SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB/WNWN) — A Battle Creek resident was killed Wednesday night in a two vehicle crash north of Sturgis.
The Michigan State Police say the crash took place just before 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of North Centreville Road and Featherstone Road in Sherman Township.
A 19-year-old driver from Battle Creek was traveling northbound on North Centreville in a Ford Mustang when he failed to stop at the intersection and a 66-year-old man from Centreville, driving a Toyota Highlander, crashed into him.
19-year-old Justin Noel, the passenger in the Mustang, lost his life in the crash. Noel was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he later died.
The driver of the Mustang was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Highlander was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and his passenger, a 32-year-old man from Sturgis, was not injured.
State Police at the Marshall Post are still investigating the crash.
