PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An adult foster care home in Portage has had its license suspended and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has also issued a notice of intent to revoke the license of the home.
The actions resulted from a complaint investigation on Wednesday, March 24 at Aina Acres, located at 5508 Mt. Vernon Avenue, related to the mistreatment of a resident. The investigation found violations of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and administrative rules including physical abuse of a resident and caregiver suitability. No other details have been made available into what exactly had happened there.
The suspension order prohibits Aina Acres from operating at the Portage home or at any other address or location. The order also requires Aida Acres to inform all the guardians of adults in their care that the license has been suspended and that it can no longer provide adult foster care services.
