BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek home, where two tenants who were murdered last year had lived, is the subject of arson for the third time since those crimes. And it’s the second fire incident in less than a week at the structure in the 200 block of Post Ave..
Battle Creek police were called to the area around 1:00 early Saturday and said they found a plastic bucket and a tire ablaze, leaning against a door on the back porch. The fire had not spread to the structure and was put out before any damage was caused.
The house is where Joseph Soule and Jaclyn Lepird lived before they were killed in early October, allegedly by their landlord, 53-year-old Chad Reed. He is currently awaiting trial.
In mid-October, a fire heavily damaged the structure and another fire on March 30 caused minimal damage. No arrests have been made in any of the three fire incidents.
