KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The city of Kalamazoo celebrated the grand opening of an outdoor Fitness Court on Wednesday, October 12.
The new fitness court, made possible through a collaboration with Priority Health and the National Fitness Campaign, allows users to leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout.
Located at Kalamazoo’s Upjohn Park at 1000 Walter Street, the Fitness Court is an open-air wellness center that is adaptable for all fitness levels able to used in group or solo settings.
Kalamazoo was selected this year as a grant-eligible partner in the 2022 NFC/Priority Health Campaign and secured a $50,000 NFC/Priority Health grant to develop the Fitness Court.
The 2022 campaign is a part of a national movement to make fitness free and accessible in public spaces across the country. NFC currently has 250 active Fitness Court locations across the country, and the campaign is set to operate in over 1,000 cities and colleges by the end of 2022.
