VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Paw Paw woman has been charged with causing a crash that killed a 1-year-old and injured a 5-year-old in June.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported on Thursday, August 17 that 60-year-old Roxanne Bastian was arraigned on felony charges of reckless driving causing death and reckless driving causing serious injury.
The crash happened on June 2 on M-40 between 40th and 44th avenues, north of Paw Paw. According to deputies, Bastian rear-ended an SUV that was making a left turn in front of her when she failed to slow down.
One of the children inside the SUV, 1-year-old Agnus Conklin, was killed. Her 5-year-old sister suffered a broken collar bone.
Authorities say Bastian was also injured in the crash.
