PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Portage Road reconstruction project is getting underway on Sunday, August 20 which will close one of the city’s busiest intersections both Sunday and Monday evenings.
That project is set to take place at the intersection of Portage Road and East Centre Avenue.
According to the City of Portage, the intersection will be closed to all traffic from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. both this Sunday, August 20, and Monday, August 21 for milling and paving operations.
The posted detour for northbound traffic on Portage Road is east on Zylman Avenue, north on Sprinkle Road, and west on Romence Road Parkway. The posted
detour for southbound traffic on Portage Road is east on Romence Road Parkway, south on Sprinkle Road, and west on Zylman Avenue.
The posted detour for eastbound traffic on East Centre Avenue is north on Lovers Lane, east on Romence Road Parkway, and south on Sprinkle Road. The posted detour for westbound traffic on East Centre Avenue is north on Sprinkle Road, west on Romence Road Parkway, and south on Lovers Lane.
Motorists are advised to follow signed detour routes or seek an alternate route to avoid delays.
The completion of all work is weather dependent.
