SPRINGPORT, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page Thursday night that a suspect who was accused of leading police on a pursuit was located and is in Springport Township Police Department custody.
The Sheriff’s Office says their deputies responded to U Drive N near 27 ½ Mile Rd in Clarence Township to assist Springport Police in a vehicle pursuit involving a motorcycle.
The motorcycle driver lost control in the area and fled on foot from Springport Police officers into a large field.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and conducted an extensive search of the area. It consisted of numerous agencies including the Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police Aviation, a K9 Unit from the Albion Department of Public Safety and Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The Sheriff’s Office and State Police conducted extra patrols in the area until the suspect was found.
