VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police has led to two arrests in the death of a Kalamazoo man over 20 months.
The body of 33-year-old Lashaun Keith was found November 3, 2022 in a field in Van Buren County’s Geneva Township. Detectives determined that Keith was assaulted and killed in Kalamazoo County and his body was then transported into Van Buren County, where it was later found.
According to information released Tuesday by Michigan State Police, after a thorough investigation, two suspects were ultimately developed. A copy of the final report, including forensic evidence, was reviewed by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Office, who authorized and issued arrest warrants for both suspects.
29-year-old Bryan Christopher Wimbley of Hartford was arrested on an open murder charge. 22-year-old Zachary Stephen Trainor of Watervliet was arrested on charges of open murder and the removal of a body without medical examiner permission.

Both men have both been arraigned in Kalamazoo County 8th District Court of Kalamazoo and remain in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
