KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Court documents show 32-year-old Kalamazoo arson suspect George Stanard has admitted to starting several fires in recent months.
Stanard is charged with eight counts of arson and is accused of starting fires between June 11th and September 3rd.
He admitted he used his lighter to set cardboard on fire and video shows him watching it burn for about a minute at a recycling center on Kilgore Road September 2nd.
Stanard says he lit a cigarette pack on fire to start one on August 24 near Bridge Street, lit papers and garbage on fire in the June 12th fire on Walnut Street and August 20th fire on Westnedge Avenue, and used a can of body spray as a “homemade flame thrower” in setting a fire June 12th on Gladys Street.
