KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo city commissioners have interviewed three executive search firms interested in doing their city manager search, but have delayed picking the winner a week, to give the public time to participate.
The interviews began at 4 p.m. Monday, a time that may have excluded some from watching the process.
Each of the three finalists offered the same general services, similar timelines at generally similar prices, but varied on experience and familiarity with the region.
Rebecca Fleury, the Michigan representative for Texas-based SGR, says they are the largest of their kind in the U.S. but they also know the area.
David Niemeyer, the executive recruiter for CPS HR in Chicago, was asked this question by commissioner Don Cooney.
Raptilis’ senior manager Pamela Wideman is with the smaller of the three firms, but had high numbers when it came to diversity hiring.
All three had above average numbers on equal employment.
The interviews can be viewed on the city’s YouTube channel and at Public Media Network.
Commissioners plan a special meeting next Monday at 7 p.m. to hear public comment and make what may be a difficult choice.
