DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Panthers are among four teams in the UFL that are reportedly going to relocate for 2026.
Pro Football Newsroom reports the spring football league will also do away with the USFL and XFL conference branding.
The four teams that will relocate were in the USFL conference and are Michigan, the Houston Roughnecks, Birmingham Stallions, and Memphis Showboats.
The new markets are reported to be Boise, Idaho and Columbus, Ohio, with the other two cities still to be determined.
This was the Panthers second run in metro Detroit, being part of the original USFL from 1983 to 1984, and then merging with the Oakland Invaders for 1985.
Michigan was the only UFL team to increase attendance in 2025, posting a 30.1% increase to 11,681 fans per game at Ford Field. The league’s television audience shrank by 20%, and attendance overall was down 5% in 2025.
The Panthers and the UFL have not made any announcement yet.
