LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids, House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland, and state budget director Jen Flood met for an hour yesterday at the state Capitol to discuss the next budget.
Other lawmakers and government officials joined in the negotiations, but Hall says the talks have become frustrating.
He says the House passed a roads plan and a budget that cuts five billion dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse, and says he’s being asked to solve the Senate’s problems for them.
Brinks said their main focus remains getting a budget approved before the September 30th deadline.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer is on an economic mission to Japan and Singapore and did not take part in Wednesday’s negotiations.
