KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It was a night of comings and goings at Kalamazoo City Hall.
The 55th Kalamazoo City Commission made way for the 56th last night as outgoing commissioners were thanked and newly elected ones took the oath.
New commissioners Jacqueline Slaby and Drew Duncan were sworn in, as was returning commissioner Stephanie Hoffman and Mayor Dave Anderson.
Because Duncan received the most votes, he will serve as vice mayor for the next two years.
Commissioner Slaby, who has previously held office in Battle Creek, says she wants to begin pressing this commission to fulfill her campaign promises.
Anderson tells us the new commissioners aren’t the only ones who will be learning.
The next time the city commission meets, it will be to preside over the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Bronson Park.
The meeting after that, they will begin work on the 2026 budget.
