KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s the holidays, which means gift giving, and that means shopping.
Black Friday isn’t what it used to be and neither is Cyber Monday. Retailers started Black Friday sales weeks ago, and online shopping no longer focuses on one day.
But there is still Small Business Saturday. That’s the day you are encouraged to support local merchants and stores.
In that spirit, the Kalamazoo City Commission has declared November 27 to be Small Business Saturday.
Commissioner Qianna Decker read the resolution at their latest meeting, citing from Small Business Administration statistics that show local retailers are critical to healthy local economies.
It all kicks off with the official Tree Lighting Ceremonies in Bronson Park tonight as Downtown Kalamazoo launches its official Christmas season. The annual event begins at 6:00 p.m.
