If you have ever had the chance to see local cover band Hairmania, then it’s no surprise to you that one of its members has a shot to be the next bass player for L.A. based glam metal band Steel Panther. Formed in 2000, Steel Panther is known for their hilarious lyrics and over-the-top stage show. With members like drummer Stix Zadinia and singer Michael Starr, Kalamazoo’s Paxton Olney’s stage persona “Trixxy Gunnz” is a shoo in. But! He needs votes to make it happen.
A bracket-style contest is pitting some of the best bassists from around the country against each other for a shot at joining the band. Each day one musician gets closer to their dream, and Olney’s next shot to prove he’s got the goods is Tuesday, December 21st.
