KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners will get their first look this afternoon at a proposed millage request to fund veterans services, that could possibly appear on the November ballot.
The county’s Veterans Affairs Committee wants the board to approve the ballot item. The request would be for voters to pay an extra one tenth of a mill annually for ten years to support the services of the Veteran’s Relief Fund, which provides services to indigent veterans and their dependents.
For a homeowner with a $100,000 taxable value, that would mean an additional $10 on their tax bill.
The millage request is on the agenda for the county’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
