CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police are searching for man with a knife who robbed a liquor store in Cass County’s Howard Township Thursday night.
Troopers at the Niles Post say the armed robbery happened around 10:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Corner liquor store.
They say the male suspect, wearing a disguise, walked into the store at closing brandishing a very distinct cleaver knife, with light blue handle, demanding money and vapes. He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and four Breeze Pro vape pens, Vanilla Tobacco & Strawberry Lime.
The suspect is described as a black male standing 5’7” – 5’11” in height and weighing 130 – 160 pounds with short black hair. They say the disguise worn by the suspect included three distinct layers of clothing worn over his face and head.
The first layer was described as a black, wool “beanie” hat with a large hole on the back left (approximately 3 inches) and pulled completely over his eyes. The second layer under the first hat was described as another bright blue “beanie” hat (possibly a ski mask) and pulled over his face. His face was also covered by a bright red piece of ripped clothing wrapped around the back of his neck. It appeared the disguise was filled with lawn debris of some sort.
Additional clothing worn by suspect are as follows:
• unclean white socks
• dark brown or black sandals with distinct two-tone outsoles and Velcro style straps
• worn-out blue jeans with ripped front right pocket area exposing white pocket lining
• old worn-out dark blue crewneck sweatshirt covered with lawn debris
• sleeves pulled down covering his hands serving as gloves
