KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo’s Streets for All Open House that was scheduled for this Thursday has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 16.
Officials say the change is to give the design team and city officials more time to process input received so far.
The Open House to review the final recommendations for Michigan Avenue’s redesign will now be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Kalamazoo Nonprofit Advocacy Coalition at 315 West Michigan Avenue.
City Planner Christina Anderson says they have had “so many great interactions with business owners, residents, and community stakeholders over the past four months” that the extra time is needed.
Michigan Avenue will go from being one-way to two-way as part of the Streets for All initiative. City officials say they are hoping the new street designs will make downtown Kalamazoo a more welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant destination.
