OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An Oshtemo Township sewage overflow this week has Kalamazoo health officials monitoring the area.
It happened Monday morning at Canterbury House Apartments on Dragonfly Road when a clog resulted in around 2,500 gallons of sewage overflowing and running into a nearby pond.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Services says anyone who may have driven through water in the roadway or have come into contact with the sewage is urged to wash their vehicle and clothing.
It is believed that the clog stemmed from a heavy accumulation of cooking and food grease which residents had dumped down the drain.
