City of Portage to purchase 7716 South Westnedge Avenue

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AMM/FM) – The city of Portage may be thinking about expanding their municipal campus on South Westnedge Avenue.

Last night after a closed session to discuss a land purchase, the council came back and took immediate action.

Council member Jihan Young made the motion to authorize City Manager Pat McGinnis to “execute an agreement to purchase the property at 7716 South Westnedge, as discussed in closed session.”

That is the location of the Panda Dynasty, a Chinese restaurant, just north of Public Safety Headquarters and across the street from Public Works, near City Hall.

There was no public discussion of the asking price or their specific plans for the property.
