AUGUSTA, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Some residents in southwest Michigan are worried about having to go without heat in their home due to a company accused of not showing up to make propane deliveries.
Lynette Garrett lives near Battle Creek and told WOOD-TV that her propane tank was supposed to be filled several weeks ago. But she says her provider, Ferrellgas, didn’t show up.
“I can make it with a little heater or go to my mom’s house, but I’m concerned my water will freeze up and then I’ll have to fix the pipes. That will cost me way too much.” – Lynette Garrett speaking to WOOD-TV
She says her tank is now less than 10% full and she wonders if Ferrellgas will fill it before she completely runs out.
Customers say when they’ve reached out to get updates on their delivery, they’ve been conflicting answers. Some say they were told there’s an issue with computer programs and others say they’re told the slowed deliveries are linked to the company recently switching hands.
In a statement to WOOD-TV, Fellergas says their parent company did file for bankruptcy, but it has had no impact on deliveries. They say they’re delivering seven days a week and planning to hire more West Michigan drivers.
