BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 34-year-old man with outstanding arrest warrants, including for aggravated assault, is in custody in Battle Creek.
Police arrested him after they executed a search warrant Monday afternoon at a home in the 200 block of Lathrop Avenue.
They contacted the homeowner, who was out of town, and learned no one should have been inside the home after getting a call from a neighbor who saw the man go inside just after 1 p.m.
Police got the search warrant after hearing male voices inside but no one came to the door.
He was taken to the Calhoun County Jail for the outstanding warrants and will also face new charges of resisting and obstructing police. No one was injured.
Battle Creek police say they appreciate the neighbor making the call and say it is a “great example of how staying alert and speaking up can make a difference.”
