PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage city council has approved higher water and wastewater rates for the next year to cover the rising cost of providing the municipal services.
They also held a final work session and a public hearing on their next annual budget, and scheduled it for final approval at their next meeting in two weeks.
Mayor Patricia Randall says a lot of work has gone into the budget.
The utility rate increases will be 8.4% for sewer services and 5% for water, amounting to about a $5.67 increase for the average user, but it could be higher or lower than that, depending on how much water you use.
