LANSING, MI (WKZO-AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has endorsed Haley Stevens in the Democratic U.S. Senate race, with just under two weeks to go before the August 4th primary election. The endorsement announcement was made on social media late Friday afternoon:
Stevens, a moderate Democrat, holds a slight lead over progressive opponent Abdul El-Sayed in recent polling.
The primary winner will face Republican Mike Rogers in the November 3rd general election for the right to succeed retiring Senator Gary Peters.
