LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan residents can now legally feed deer and elk under a new law signed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The law allows people to place less than two gallons of feed within 300 feet of a residence for recreational viewing or to help prevent animals from starving.
The change does not lift the ban on using feed to bait deer for hunting in the Lower Peninsula. State wildlife officials have previously warned that feeding can increase the spread of diseases including chronic wasting disease.
