PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage Public Schools will host a one-day enrollment event for those who are new to the district this Thursday.
The event is designed to be a one-stop to complete enrollment for young-five and kindergarten students who have not yet signed up for school, and for any students that are new Portage residents, willbe held from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Portage Central High School Commons, 8135 South Westnedge Avenue.
Please plan on bringing the following documents:
● Parent/Guardian Photo ID and proof of guardianship if applicable.
● Birth Certificate – If you need assistance obtaining a copy of your child’s birth certificate please view the Vital Records Assistance information at the bottom of their Community page.
● Proof of Residency – A recently dated gas, electric, trash, water, cable/internet, or utility bill; property tax bill; lease; mortgage statement; or renters’ or homeowners’ insurance. A driver’s license, cell phone bill, medical bills, DHHS paperwork, and other mail cannot be used as proof.
● Immunization Records – A Kalamazoo County Health Department Immunization Waiver or Medical Waiver may also be submitted in place of immunization records.
● High School students should bring a current transcript.
In addition to the opportunity to enroll, there will be free food, give-a-ways, and school bus tours. Human Resources will all be on site with information about employment opportunities for the 2026-2027 school year.
Due to construction on South Westnedge, visitors are asked to park on the North side of Central High School and walk around the building to the event entrance.
