KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo city commission will be allowing call-in public comments for the first time tonight since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, but only during their public comment time on the regular agenda.
Speakers should state their name and whether they live in the city of Kalamazoo.
They should also mute nearby TV, computer, or livestreams of the meeting before speaking to prevent confusion because of the delay, and it could cause audio feedback.
Because of the change, the commission has also decided to go back to the three-minute maximum for those who appear in person or by phone during the regular meeting.
Public comment during their Committee of the Whole will remain at two-minutes max and only in person.
The Kalamazoo County commission and Portage city council already provide access to the meetings by phone, but it’s rarely used by the public.
The number to call is (888) 382-9556.
