PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As clean-up continues in the aftermath of Tuesday’s tornado, Portage Public Schools will remain closed Thursday.
The district was also closed Wednesday.
In a letter to parents, school district officials Wednesday said no buildings were damaged, but cited internet and phone connectivity, road blockages and power outages as challenges.
“We want to get students back in school as soon as possible where we can restore a sense of normalcy and security as we approach the last several weeks of school. However, safety of our students and staff have to be our top concern.”
The letter said students in International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs would receive more information about their exam schedules.
