DOWAGIAC, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 22-year old Dowagiac man has been arrested and charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death, reckless driving causing death, and tampering with evidence after a fatal hit and run accident in Cass County last month.
Detectives developed a vehicle of interest by utilizing video footage gathered from the public and parts left at the scene, which led to the recovery of the suspect’s vehicle and the arrest of Enrique Bejarano-Martinez.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Timothy Johnson of Benton Harbor was struck and killed around 5:30 a.m. May 21, although the accident wasn’t reported and Johnson’s body found until May 24.
The hit and run occurred on M-152 near Pleasant Street in Silver Creek Township.
