KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Jen Strebs has won the Democratic Party primary for the state House in District 41.
The current chairwoman of the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners defeated Jessica Swartz yesterday by 1,657 votes, earning 55% of the vote compared to Swartz with 44%.
She will face Republican Nicole Sabel in the November election to succeed Democratic Representative Julie Rogers, who won the party’s primary for the 19th District state Senate seat with no challenger.
Rogers will face Republican Shaun Young in November. They are seeking to succeed Senator Sean McCann.
McCann also won his primary yesterday in the 4th Congressional District over Diop Harris and will face Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga.
The Zeeland incumbent defeated former Holland Mayor Phil Tanis in the primary on Tuesday.
