KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s been a rough couple of weeks for gun violence in Kalamazoo, including the murders of two young mothers.
Arrests have been made in both killings.
Here’s City Manager Malcolm Hankins.
He says the Department of Public Safety has been doing their part to reduce gun violence.
Hankins says they will need the whole community to get engaged if they really want to address the threat.
Several city commissioners also expressed their thanks to public safety for responding quickly to the crimes.
Mayor Dave Anderson says it’s not an easy job.
The community’s murder rate this year has now exceeded last year’s, with three months yet to go.
