NAIROBI, Oct 9 (Reuters) – Kenya’s budget deficit is expected to rise to 5.9% of gross domestic product in the 2027/28 fiscal year from 5.5% in 2026/27, the finance ministry said on Friday.
• The ministry said net domestic financing was seen at 929.1 billion Kenyan shillings ($7.17 billion) in the 2027/28 fiscal year starting in July, down from 1.04 trillion shillings in the current year.
• Net external financing was forecast at 423.8 billion shillings in the next fiscal year, up from 247.2 billion in 2026/27.
• Kenya’s finance minister typically presents the budget to parliament in June, but next year’s will be presented earlier due to general elections in August.
