KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo County officials are urging voters to plan now on how they will participate in the November 3rd election.
Due to everything that is going on, voter turnout could be higher than normal this off-year election, but voters have never had more options to avoid the crowd.
In fact, voters don’t even have to leave home.
Kalamazoo County Clerk and Register of Deeds Meredith Place says registered voters no longer need to give a reason to vote absentee.
It’s not too late to ask for an absentee ballot.
Once voters fill it out, it can be mailed in or dropped it off at your local clerk’s office.
Elections officials urge absentee voters to mail them back early to make sure there are no delays at the post office.
If the preference is to vote in person, you don’t have to wait until Election Day.
She says a week from this Saturday, they will open four early voting sites. Those will be at the Kalamazoo Expo Center, the Fetzer Center, the Douglas Community Center and Portage Parks and Rec.
They will remain open thru Sunday, November 1st.
Early voting allows voters to cast a ballot in person before Election Day and place it directly into a tabulator, just like on Election Day.
Any resident who is unregistered has until next Monday to register online, and after that registration can take place in person at a local clerk’s office.
The city of Kalamazoo’s clerk has once again opened a satellite office at the Fetzer Center on campus for the convenience of students, who may or may not be registered in town.
It has never been easier to vote, and if you make a plan, it’s even easier.
