BOISE, ID (WKZO AM/FM) – Longtime friends, former Kalamazoo College standouts, and local tennis legends Alex Palladino and Jim Burda have picked up another championship, recently winning the U.S. national indoor doubles championship in the 60-and-over division at the Boise Racquet & Swim Club in Boise, ID.
The title adds another chapter to a tennis partnership that began decades ago at Kalamazoo College. As members of the Hornets’ nationally dominant men’s tennis program, Palladino and Burda established themselves as one of the most accomplished doubles teams in school history, winning NCAA Division III national doubles championships in both 1986 and 1987 and helping lead Kalamazoo College to national prominence.
Palladino and Burda were stars during one of the most successful eras in Kalamazoo College tennis history. Their collegiate accomplishments earned them recognition in the Kalamazoo College Athletic Hall of Fame, where they are celebrated as two-time NCAA Division III doubles champions and key contributors to nationally ranked teams.
Palladino is a member of the West Michigan Tennis Hall of Fame, and Burda is currently the number 1 ranked USTA 60-and-over doubles player in the country.
